Doppia presentazione di “God blessed Calabria” il docu-film produzione originale del Festival sul periodo bizantino della nostra regione. Non soltanto case editrici al “Salone del libro” di Torino. Ma anche uno spazio, tra le centinaia di stand, dedicato ai più importanti festival che si tengono in tutta Italia. E tra questi, a far parlare della Calabria, anche il Festival d’Autunno che per l’occasione ha proposto al pubblico del Superfestival (questo il nome dell’area dedicata alle più importanti rassegne culturali italiane), la proiezione del docu-film sull’epoca bizantina dal titolo God blessed Calabria. Una produzione originale del Festival d’Autunno e della società Historia, la cui regia è stata firmata dal regista veneto Erminio Perocco. “Perché proprio Erminio Perocco? Per due motivi: il primo – ha spiegato Antonietta Santacroce ai presenti – è che volevo una persona che non conoscesse troppo da vicino la nostra regione affinché la potesse raccontare senza nessun tipo di condizionamento affettivo. La seconda è che avevo in mente una narrazione dal taglio veloce, ritmata, moderna: in questo Erminio, senza dubbio, è tra i più bravi registi italiani”. Del resto, ha spiegato al pubblico il giornalista Davide Lamanna, Perocco è sceneggiatore e regista di fama, docente di scrittura creativa presso l’Università Cattolica di Milano, oltre che essere stato, per anni, il direttore creativo della più importante agenzia di comunicazione italiana, l’Armando Testa, realizzando più di un centinaio di spot per i più grandi marchi italiani e internazionali.
Santacroce ha spiegato anche come mai ha voluto interessarsi proprio della Calabria bizantina: “Tutti conosciamo la storia magno-greca della Calabria ma di quella bizantina si sa davvero molto poco. In realtà si tratta di un’epoca molto felice in cui la regione è stata lo scenario naturale dell’incontro tra diverse culture e, nello specifico, tra la religione cattolica e quella ortodossa”. Un elemento, quest’ultimo, che ha molto affascinato Perocco. “Ho scoperto una terra in cui le culture si fondono – ha raccontato – e le persone che abbiamo intervistato sono stati capaci di rivelare la percezione di una bellezza che si nasconde, che va conosciuta approfondendola. In Calabria c’è sempre qualcosa che sfugge al primo sguardo: il turista che si appresta a visitarla deve saperlo e non limitarsi solo all’apparenza”.
