La polizia ha sequestrato una masseria fatiscente ove venivano alloggiati, dal proprietario e da un imprenditore agricolo locale, decine di cittadini stranieri di origine africana, utilizzati nei campi come forza lavoro. L’operazione, segue l’indagine coordinata dalla Procura della Repubblica di Palmi che ha portato al decreto di sequestro preventivo emesso dal Gip del Tribunale di Palmi. L’immobile si trova in contrada San Fili di Melicucco (Rc), all’interno della quale erano alloggiati numerosi cittadini extracomunitari di origine africana in condizioni igienico-sanitarie precarie. Gli stranieri, tutti privi di mezzi di sostentamento, giunti in passato in Italia con sbarchi umanitari, prevalentemente regolari sul territorio nazionale, venivano fatti alloggiare all’interno della masseria in due stanzoni, illuminati con lampadine collegate a fili elettrici volanti, al cui interno erano ammassate brandine e materassi. I servizi igienici comuni all’aperto collocati nelle immediate vicinanze di un fienile con maiali e galline. Il caporale del Burkina Faso anch’esso abitava all’interno della masseria, ma in una stanza autonoma all’interno della quale viveva con la moglie. All’interno della struttura sono stati trovati 4 stranieri, tre del Mali e uno del Burkina Fas, che sono stati ospitati presso la Nuova Tendopoli sita nella II zona Industriale di San Ferdinando.
Il proprietario della struttura sottoposta a sequestro preventivo, il titolare dell’azienda agricola utilizzatore della manodopera straniera e il caporale del Burkina Faso sono stati denunciati a piede libero.
