Quest’anno compie quarantatre anni l’Associazione Nazionale Emodializzati Dialisi e Trapianti Onlus. Dall’idea della sua fondatrice, Franca Pellini, l’Aned si è sempre posta dalla parte dei pazienti, stimolando la nascita e lo sviluppo della dialisi nel paese e puntando alla tutela sociale dei pazienti e alla difesa dei diritti acquisiti. Convinta che, così come ricordato dalle parole della sua stessa fondatrice, citate dall’attuale Presidente Nazionale Valentina Paris, “il paziente che ha capito è colui che diventa protagonista della propria patologia” e, quindi, che solo attraverso quella che oggi definiamo l’umanizzazione delle cure si possa giungere a significativi risultati in termini di informazione, sensibilizzazione e gestione quotidiana. La prevenzione, però, non basta, soprattutto in una realtà come quella italiana in cui non esiste ancora una rete capace di dare vita ad un modello di presa in carico e gestione del paziente che sia adeguato e standardizzato. E sono stati proprio questi i temi al centro dell’assemblea regionale tenuta domenica 22 marzo presso la sala consigliare della Provincia di Catanzaro trattati dagli esperti del settore presenti. Un’assemblea voluta per l’elezione dei componenti del comitato regionale ma anche e soprattutto per far incontrare i medici dell’area vasta della Calabria ed i pazienti, i rappresentanti delle associazioni e la classe politica e dare vita ad un dibattito costruttivo. Il grido d’allarme lanciato dalla Presidente Nazionale dell’Aned, Valentina Paris, circa la necessità di «superare la fase attuale che vuole diverse modalità di gestione del paziente a seconda della regione d’appartenenza» affinché si possa creare un sistema a rete su base nazionale ed articolazione regionale, è stato accolto dagli esponenti della classe politica presenti all’incontro. Il Presidente della Provincia di Catanzaro, Enzo Bruno, il Consigliere Regionale e Vicepresidente della Commissione Regionale Sanità, Sinibaldo Esposito, Riccardo Bruno, consigliere provinciale in rappresentanza del Presidente del Consiglio Regionale della Calabria, Tonino Scalzo, e poi ancora il consigliere comunale Carlo Nisticò e il collega a capo della Commissione Bilancio a Palazzo de Nobili Marco Polimeni sono convenuti sull’importanza di dare risposte alle associazioni, sostenendo giorno dopo giorno il loro importante compito di assistere i malati, e di ricollocare al centro del dibattito politico il paziente dializzato e trapiantato. Gli interventi degli esperti del settore si sono concentrati sullo stato dell’arte dei trapianti, sulle prospettive future nel campo della nefrologia in Calabria, sugli accessi vascolari e sulla necessità di ripensare il diritto alla salute come un diritto sociale alla salute. Dopo i saluti del referente regionale Aned Pasquale Scarmozzino e l’introduzione ai lavori dell’avvocato Elga Rizzo, in veste di moderatrice dell’evento e da ex Direttore dell’Azienda Ospedaliera “Pugliese-Ciaccio” di Catanzaro profonda conoscitrice delle problematiche connesse alla gestione del paziente in dialisi, sono intervenuti il dottore Pellegrino Mancini, Direttore del Centro Regionale Trapianti, il dottore Giorgio Fuiano, Referente Regionale Sin e professore presso il Policlinico Universitario di Catanzaro, la dottoressa Francesca Mallamaci, Direttore f.f. dell’Unità di Nefrologia dell’Azienda Ospedaliera “Bianchi Melacrino Morelli” di Reggio Calabria, il dottore Renzo Bonofiglio, Direttore del Reparto di Nefrologia, Dialisi e Trapianti dell’Ospedale “Annunziata” di Cosenza, e il dottore Luigi Lombardi, nefrologo e già Direttore del Dipartimento di Medicina dell’Azienda Ospedaliera “Pugliese -Ciaccio” di Catanzaro. Uno dei problemi più grandi nella nostra Regione resta, dunque, a detta dello stesso dottore Pellegrino Mancini, Direttore del Centro Regionale Trapianti, lo scarso numero di donatori; solo 19 su 50 potenziali donatori, nel 2014, hanno accettato di donare mentre 180 sono i pazienti ancora in attesa di trapianto solo in Calabria. Nello stesso anno i trapianti in Calabria sono stati 26, secondo i dati riportati dal dottore Giorgio Fuiano, Referente Regionale Sin e professore presso il Policlinico Universitario di Catanzaro, mentre il costo stimato in Calabria per l’emodialisi si aggira intorno ai 70.080.000 di euro. Da qui la necessità di sensibilizzare la popolazione, partendo dalle nuove generazioni, circa l’importanza della donazione degli organi e prima di tutto comunicare con i pazienti e con i malati stessi stabilendo una collaborazione continuativa tra il nefrologo ed il medico di famiglia, come auspicato nel suo intervento dalla dottoressa Francesca Mallamaci, Direttore f.f. dell’Unità di Nefrologia dell’Azienda Ospedaliera “Bianchi Melacrino Morelli” di Reggio Calabria. A parlare, invece, di una rete delle malattie renali che non si deve fermare al medico di base ma deve pensare ad una piattaforma informatica capace di avere una gestione in remoto del paziente, contribuendo il più possibile a ridurre il numero degli accessi presso i vari ambulatori dislocati sul territorio, è stato il dottore Renzo Bonofiglio, Direttore del Reparto di Nefrologia, Dialisi e Trapianti dell’Ospedale “Annunziata” di Cosenza. Non ultimo il dottore Luigi Lombardi, nefrologo e già Direttore del Dipartimento di Medicina dell’Azienda Ospedaliera “Pugliese -Ciaccio” di Catanzaro, concentratosi sugli accessi vascolari, capaci di migliorare la vita del paziente. Dopo le elezioni dei componenti del Comitato Regionale, Giovanni Daniele, Rita Romanò, Rocco Lagano e Aurora Curto, la parola è passata ai pazienti e ai rappresentati delle associazioni presenti, tra gli altri Elio Rosati, rappresentante di Cittadinanzattiva – Tribunale per i Diritti del Malato, che hanno voluto interrogare gli esperti circa le reali prospettive per la dialisi domiciliare ribadendo la speranza, divenuta ormai necessità, che i cittadini calabresi inizino a prendersi cura dei beni comuni, primi fra tutti la sanità e la salute, alla riscoperta di quel senso civico che rende i cittadini attivi.
