C’era una consolidata sinergia fra la criminalità calabrese e quella siciliana dietro al traffico internazionale di droga stroncato stamani con l’arresto di 57 persone da parte della Guardia di Finanza di Catanzaro su mandato della Dda di Reggio Calabria. La sostanza stupefacente proveniente dalla Spagna (cocaina, ma anche marijuana e hashish) varcava lo Stretto a bordo dei mezzi dei corrieri calabresi diretti in Sicilia seguendo una rotta che arrivava fino a Malta. L’operazione, denominata in codice “Crypto”, ha portato anche a ingenti sequestri di beni in diverse regioni italiane. Tra i gruppi criminali destinatari dei carichi di droga, negli atti dell’inchiesta figurano diversi e autonomi gruppi delinquenziali: quello operante nelle zona di Amantea e Cosenza, riconducibile rispettivamenti a Francesco Suriano, esponente di spicco della ’ndrina Gentile, e a Roberto Porcaro, reggente della ’ndrina Lanzino”,quello radicato nel Torinese, facente capo a Vincenzo Raso;quello operante nella città di Catania, riconducibile a Francesco Cambria, esponente di spicco del “Clan Cappello”. C’erano poi referentioperanti tra le città di Siracusa, Benevento e Milano.
Tra gli acquirenti delle partite di narcotico, inoltre, sarebbero stati individuati esponenti di spicco della cosca Cappello di Catania. È indicativa, al riguardo, secondo le Fiamme Gialle catanzaresi e la Dda reggina, l’apertura di una rotta per far giungere la cocaina anche in territorio maltese. Più nello specifico, nel febbraio 2018, Ivan Meo, elemento vicino al Clan catanese Cappello, e due complici non identificati, che facevano da “staffetta”, raggiunsero via mare, partendo da Pozzallo (RG), a Malta, dove avrebbero consegnato droga. Come provento della consegna, Meo riportò in Italia 50.850 euro. La somma, nel corso di una perquisizione veicolare, fu però sequestrata dai finanzieri al ritorno dei corrieri a Pozzallo. A conferma ulteriore della sinergia instaurata tra i rosarnesi e le altre associazioni criminali, gli inquirenti hanno documentato che, sebbene nella quasi totalità dei casi le ingenti partite di narcotico partissero dalla Calabria per approvvigionare i vari acquirenti, questi ultimi, in alcuni casi, ricambiavano il favore, provvedendo a rifornire di stupefacente gli stessi rosarnesi o rifornendo un altro gruppo mediante l’intermediazione dei calabresi. Nel corso delle indagini, su segnalazione del Nucleo di Polizia Economico-Finanziaria-G.I.C.O. di Catanzaro, sono stati arrestati in flagranza di reato da altri Reparti della Guardia di Finanza 10 “corrieri” e sequestrati circa 80 kg di cocaina, che una volta immessa in commercio avrebbe fruttato all’organizzazione più di 4 milioni di euro, oltre che svariati chili tra marijuana ed hashish. Tra l’aprile e il novembre del 2018, l’organizzazione criminale avrebbe movimentato, oltre a quelli sequestrati, altri 140 kg di cocaina.
