CATANZARO. Su iniziativa di 22 associazioni culturali e di impegno sociale operanti sul territorio di Catanzaro, il prossimo venerdì 1* giugno sarà presentata alla classe politica del territorio una proposta redatta per restituire al capoluogo di regione la ferrovia nel centro della città. “Cuore della proposta – spiega una nota – è la riattivazione della tratta ferroviaria Catanzaro Lido – Settingiano e il contestuale recupero funzionale della vecchia stazione di Sala, posta esattamente ai piedi del centro storico cittadino e perciò perfettamente strategica, funzionale, comoda e utile. D’altronde, ciò che è stato per 121 anni. La proposta – si sottolinea – nasce dalla consapevolezza che la scelta operata nel 2008 con cui è stata dismessa la tratta ferroviaria e soppressa la storica stazione, si è rivelata obiettivamente deleteria per il territorio, al punto da aver isolato la città. Infatti, quella che doveva essere l’alternativa, ossia la nuova stazione RFI “Catanzaro” realizzata lungo la valle del Corace, si è rivelata purtroppo un fallimento sia perché collocata fuori dal contesto urbanizzato del capoluogo, sia perché la nuova strada ferrata che da lì passa per collegare Ionio e Tirreno, non risulta essere sicura a causa del paventato utilizzo di cemento depotenziato nella realizzazione dell’infrastruttura. Se mai le indagini in corso dovessero confermare le irregolarità costruttive, che già impongono ai pochi treni che attualmente vi transitano a non superare la velocità di 60 km/orari, non è difficile immaginare che eventuali cedimenti strutturali taglierebbero fuori completamente Catanzaro dalla rete ferroviaria regionale e nazionale. La proposta – continua la nota – coordinata dall’ingegnere Claudio Ruga, è tecnicamente ben fondata sia sotto il profilo del ripristino della stazione di Sala, sia sotto quello concernente il recupero, mediante alcuni opportuni e fattibilissimi interventi della vecchia strada ferrata che da lì passava e che non si pone in contrasto con la realizzanda Metropolitana di superficie, meglio nota come “Pendolo”. Pertanto, venerdì 1 giugno, alle ore 17, nel Salotto Culturale “Antonino Greco” sito in Via Settembrini n. 26, la proposta sarà illustrata a tutti i cittadini e a tutte le forze politiche del territorio, dal livello comunale fino a quello parlamentare, al fine di coinvolgerle in un impegno che potrà restituire al capoluogo di regione non solo la sua stazione ferroviaria in centro, ma una più complessiva e benefica condizione di sviluppo, tale da metterla al passo con analoghe realtà della nostra regione e del resto d’Italia”.
