MONASTERACE. Fa discutere a Monasterace l’ipotesi del trasferimento dal Museo archeologico della cittadina della locride all’Archeologico nazionale di Reggio Calabria del Drago di Kaulon, il mosaico ellenistico, che riproduce un drago marino, affiorato nel sito dell’antica Kaulon sulle rive del mare Jonio. “Oggi, leggendo la stampa – afferma in una nota Gianpiero Taverniti, tra gli animatori del movimento “Monasterace nel cuore” – sentendo umori in paese, si sente dire che sarà riportato a Reggio Calabria, ufficialmente per tre mesi a partire dal 10 agosto prossimo. In tanti, però, hanno timore che resti definitivamente lì. Chiedo: perché la Sovrintendenza dei Beni Culturali di Reggio-Vibo non comunica trasparentemente le sue intenzioni, pubblicando ufficialmente a mezzo stampa, la documentazione dell’operazione di trasferimento provvisorio, al fine esclusivo di tranquillizzare tutti? Basta poco per sgomberare ogni dubbio e tranquillizzare tantissima gente che si sta mobilitando. Da parte nostra non possiamo che dire e scrivere #ildragorestiqui”. A rispondere alle preoccupazioni dei cittadini di Monasterace, in una lettera aperta, è Angela Acordon, direttore del Polo Museale della Calabria. “Intanto – sostiene Acordon – riscontro un improvviso interesse per il Museo archeologico Nazionale di Monasterace: almeno da quando dirigo il Polo Museale della Calabria non era mai accaduto e pertanto mi fanno piacere anche le critiche. Il Museo – prosegue – non è solo il mosaico del Drago. Non ha perciò senso, anche se ne comprendo la logica provocatoria, dire che senza quel mosaico il Museo di Kaulonia può anche essere chiuso. Se per qualche mese il Drago si sposta entrando a far parte di una mostra che inanella una sequenza di capolavori provenienti dai più importanti Musei archeologici d’Italia, non credo che ciò venga a detrimento del Museo dal quale il Drago proviene, ma penso anzi che esso venga ancor più valorizzato e che venga aumentata la diffusione della sua conoscenza, portando in futuro più persone a cercarlo nel Museo della cittadina di Monasterace”. Per Acordon non c’è nulla da temere circa il fatto che il Drago possa non ritornare: “non lo farebbe il direttore del Museo di Reggio, non lo farei io – sostiene ancora – ma soprattutto non ce lo permetterebbe la Direzione Generale Musei. In ogni caso vi offro la mia parola, che per chi mi conosce è più di una garanzia, che questo non accadrà”.
