“È con stupore e rammarico che abbiamo appreso dalla stampa, locale e nazionale, il Suo pensiero secondo il quale i motivi dell’essere la Calabria all’ultimo posto tra le regioni per numero di soggetti vaccinati al Covid 19 sia da individuare nella mancata disponibilità dei medici a vaccinarsi”. A dirlo, in una nota indirizzata al commissario straordinario della sanità calabrese, Guido Longo, i presidenti degli Ordini dei medici delle cinque province calabresi, Vincenzo Ciconte di Catanzaro, Enrico Ciliberto di Crotone, Eugenio Corcioni di Cosenza, Antonino Maglia di Vibo Valentia e Pasquale Veneziano di Reggio Calabria.
“Una tale affermazione – scrivono i cinque presidenti – oltre che assolutamente infondata, si appalesa soprattutto offensiva per una categoria che fin dall’inizio della pandemia è stata ed è in prima fila nella lotta al virus, adoperandosi con coraggio, abnegazione e spirito di sacrificio, anche mettendo a repentaglio la propria incolumità fisica (non le saranno sfuggiti i tanti colleghi morti nell’adempimento del proprio dovere). La categoria invece si è resa oltremodo disponibile a proporsi da medici vaccinatori in modo da poter eseguire postazioni vaccinali ulteriori per tutti gli iscritti agli ordini (libero professionisti , medici ed odontoiatri ecc)”. “Tutto ciò – sottolineano – nonostante le ‘inefficienze’ (a essere buoni) del Servizio sanitario regionale e l’incapacità dei suoi vertici di assicurare ai calabresi i dovuti servizi essenziali, mettendo a disposizione degli operatori strutture ed organigrammi adeguati e sufficienti”.
Ma non è tutto. I medici toccano altri tasti dolenti per il commissario ad acta recentemente insediatosi al posto del generale Cotticelli. “A questo proposito è di oggi la notizia che la Calabria continua ad essere ultima tra le regioni per i Lea assicurati ai propri cittadini. Lea che, addirittura, risultano in decremento rispetto all’ultima rilevazione. Crediamo che di questo Ella si debba prioritariamente preoccupare, unitamente a vigilare e usare i suoi poteri per efficentare le strutture e i servizi necessarie ad affrontare la crisi epidemica in corso, come ci si aspetta da una regione di una grande democrazia europea e come i medici e cittadini calabresi meritano ed hanno diritto”, sostengono. I presidenti dei medici della Calabria, quindi, invitano il commissario Longo “a volere ritirare/rettificare le sue offensive affermazioni circa i medici calabresi” e rinnovano “la richiesta (già formulata con la precedente Ns/ del 23.12.2020) di poterla incontrare al fine, ribadiamo, di poterle evidenziarle ed analizzare con Lei le tante e gravi criticità che investono la sanità calabrese, con senso di responsabilità istituzionale nella speranza di avviare una fattiva e proficua collaborazione”.
