Ormai vicino alla scadenza del suo mandato, il Csm torna a dividersi sulle nomine più importanti. Se cinque anni fa Federico Cafiero De Raho era stato indicato all’unanimità procuratore nazionale antimafia e antiterrorismo, stavolta la scelta del suo successore passa a maggioranza. A tagliare il traguardo è il procuratore di Napoli ed ex capo di gabinetto del ministro Andrea Orlando quando era alla guida di via Arenula, Giovanni Melillo, 61 anni, che batte il suo diretto concorrente, il capo dei pm di Catanzaro Nicola Gratteri. Quella di Melillo non è comunque una vittoria di misura, come ci si attendeva alla vigilia del voto. Il procuratore di Napoli passa alla prima votazione, senza bisogno di ballottaggio che in tanti invece davano per scontato: 13 i sì , contro i 7 che vanno a Gratteri e i 5 a Giovanni Russo, aggiunto e attuale reggente della procura di via Giulia. A far pendere il piatto della bilancia dalla parte del procuratore di Napoli è l’appoggio del primo presidente Pietro Curzio e del Pg della Cassazione Giovanni Salvi e del gruppo di Unicost che in Commissione si era astenuto. La scelta non convince lo schieramento a favore di Gratteri, ritenuto invece il magistrato “più idoneo a ridare slancio alla procura nazionale” (Di Matteo) e “il simbolo dei magistrati che non hanno collegamenti con la politica e fanno carriera senza far parte delle correnti” (Giuseppe Marra). Non affidare a lui il timone della procura di via Giulia, aveva avvertito prima del voto Ardita, “sarebbe non solo la bocciatura del suo impegno antimafia, ma un segnale devastante al movimento culturale antimafia”. Sul futuro del procuratore di Catanzaro qualcuno già si interroga. E se viene ritenuta per ora poco probabile una sua candidatura al vertice della procura di Napoli, tra le tante voci che circolano a Palazzo dei marescialli c’è anche quella di una sua discesa in campo per le prossime elezioni del Csm.
