RENDE. “L’Università della Calabria si conferma tra le migliori al mondo nel settore della Matematica. A sancirlo è la prestigiosa classifica Arwu 2015 (Academic Ranking of World Universities), stilata ogni anno dall’Università Jiao Tong di Shanghai, che colloca l’ateneo di Arcavacata al 151/mo posto”. Lo riferisce un comunicato dell’ufficio stampa dell’Unical. “Il risultato – si aggiunge nella nota – si pone in continuità con il piazzamento fatto registrare dall’ateneo anche lo scorso anno e premia soprattutto il Dipartimento di Matematica e Informatica, diretto dal prof. Nicola Leone, in cui si concentrano gran parte dei ricercatori di questa disciplina”. Soddisfazione è stata espressa dal rettore dell’Unical, prof. Gino Mirocle Crisci. “È una notizia di grande importanza – ha detto – che vede i colleghi del dipartimento diretto da Leone ancora tra i più autorevoli studiosi della Matematica a livello mondiale. Un riconoscimento che valorizza significativamente l’immagine e la considerazione del nostro ateneo, che vanta risultati di rilievo internazionale anche in altri settori”. “I parametri di valutazione utilizzati dall’Università Jiao Tong di Shanghai – si afferma ancora nel comunicato – considerano indicatori relativi alla ricerca dei docenti (qualità delle pubblicazioni scientifiche e loro impatto, numero di citazioni, ecc.), al successo dei laureati e dottori di ricerca, a premi e riconoscimenti scientifici. Il risultato ottenuto nella prestigiosa classifica Arwu 2015 dal Dipartimento di Matematica e Informatica dell’Università della Calabria si aggiunge ai numerosi riconoscimenti ottenuti dai suoi docenti. Solo qualche anno fa il Dipartimento di Matematica e Informatica si era contraddistinto per il 76/mo posto mondiale dell’Unical nella classifica Arwu dell’Informatica. Lo scorso anno il prestigioso “Kurt Goedel Research Prize” venne assegnato al prof. Gianluigi Greco per le ricerche in Logica e Intelligenza Artificiale, mentre il prof. Giuseppe Marino venne inserito nell’elenco dei matematici più citati al mondo, risultato, quest’ultimo, che contribuisce significativamente alla positiva valutazione dell’Arwu 2015”.
