LOCRI. “Il delitto Fortugno ha rappresentato un attacco alle istituzioni e al cuore della democrazia calabrese. Le modalità di esecuzione, dalla scelta dell’uomo al giorno, non furono casuali”. Lo ha detto il presidente del Consiglio regionale Nicola Irto aprendo i lavori della commemorazione ufficiale promossa dal Consiglio regionale della Calabria che si stanno svolgendo nella sala consiliare del Comune di Locri, a dieci anni dall’uccisione di Franco Fortugno. Ai lavori, oltre al presidente Irto, al presidente della Giunta regionale Mario Oliverio e ai consiglieri regionali, partecipano la vedova ed i figli di Fortugno. “Con questa iniziativa – ha aggiunto Irto – mandiamo un messaggio chiaro: il sangue di Franco non è stato versato invano ma ha germogliato frutti positivi. Con la nostra presenza qui vogliamo inoltre dimostrare tutta la nostra attenzione, istituzionale e non di facciata, alla Locride. Siamo usciti dal “palazzo” per venire qui. Ma non per fare una passerella. Dopo il delitto Fortugno c’è stata una presenza più strillata che reale in questo territorio. Il compito della politica è quello di rivolgere un’attenzione vera e di mantenerla anche dopo che i riflettori si saranno spenti”. “La madre di tutte le battaglie – ha detto ancora il Presidente del Consiglio regionale – è comunque la lotta alla criminalità organizzata. Fino a quando non si avrà la meglio sulla ‘ndrangheta, nessuna guerra potrà dirsi vinta. Qui nel 2005 i ragazzi si ribellarono dando vita ad una pacifica rivoluzione. Da lì bisogna ripartire, dall’immagine di quei ragazzi che oggi purtroppo sono donne e uomini adulti alcuni dei quali anche emigrati”. Irto ha poi sostenuto che “nel ricordo di Fortugno dobbiamo attuare un patto per la Locride, fondamentale nella lotta alla subcultura mafiosa per cancellare la parola ‘ndrangheta e sostituirla con la parola libertà”. In apertura della cerimonia è stato proiettato un video dal titolo “Ricordando Franco Fortugno”, con immagini dell’esponente politico e del luogo, Palazzo Nieddu del Rio, seggio elettorale nel 2005 delle Primarie dell’Unione, in cui venne ucciso l’allora vicepresidente del Consiglio regionale.
