A Meseberg, vicino Berlino, nella residenza del governo tedesco, le consultazioni fra Angela Merkel ed Emmanuel Macron in vista del Consiglio europeo di fine giugno. Fra i temi sul tavolo, la riforma dell’unione economica e monetaria, il rafforzamento delle frontiere esterne e della politica di difesa, la politica comune sull’asilo e una più forte cooperazione sulla ricerca e l’intelligenza artificiale. “La migrazione la concepiamo co-me sfida comune” e “il nostro obiettivo – ha detto la Merkel Macron – resta una risposta europea. Vogliamo evitare che l’Europa si divida. Noi sosteniamo le proposte della Commissione e il rafforzamento di Frontex”. “Accoglieremo le valutazioni dell’Italia sulla migrazione”, ha aggiunto, sottolineando che è un paese particolarmente esposto. Macron ha ripetuto a Meseberg di aver assicurato al premier italiano Giuseppe Conte una reazione coordinata al fenomeno della migrazione. “Reagiremo in modo coordinato, nel segno di una cooperazione. Non possiamo rispondere in modo efficiente sen-za coordinamento”. “Sull’eurozona abbiamo raggiunto un buon risultato”, ha detto ancora Angela Merkel. “Siamo a favore di un budget dell’eurozona e della trasformazione del meccanismo di solidarietà europeo Esm in un fondo monetario europeo”, ha aggiunto. L’obiettivo di Berlino e Parigi è che il budget dell’eurozona a 19 potrà essere istituito dal 2021, ha affermato il presidente francese. In Europa servono “più sovranità e più compattezza, più coordinamento”, ha spiegato Macron a proposito della politica di difesa. Macron ha citato quindi “un’iniziativa di intervento europeo per poterci coordinare meglio”.
